Move
Experimental hand crafted animation focusing on movement and dynamics
This project is an animated exploration of movement, rhythm, and style, capturing the energy of hip-hop culture through a unique visual approach. The central figure is a breakdancer, whose motions are rendered frame by frame in expressive graphite sketches. The use of hand-drawn graphite emphasizes raw texture, grit, and authenticity - echoing the urban roots of hip-hop dance.
To complement the traditional drawing style, digital accents are layered into the animation. Bold color highlights, neon flares, and dynamic graphic overlays pulse in sync with the dancer’s movements, amplifying the rhythm and adding a modern edge. This fusion of analog and digital techniques mirrors the evolution of hip-hop itself: grounded in tradition, but constantly innovating.
The overall aesthetic is urban and raw, evoking the atmosphere of a city street performance. Concrete textures, graffiti-inspired motifs, and stylized lighting effects serve as a backdrop, immersing viewers in a vibrant, kinetic world. The result is a visually striking short animation that not only celebrates breakdancing but also showcases the intersection of fine art drawing and digital design.
